As part of your freshman English course, you are required to read two books during this summer. You may choose any two books from the list below. Since you will be tested on the books in September, you will find it helpful to take notes as you read. Your notes should include the following:

1. Title of the book

2. Author of the book

3. A list of the main characters with a sentence explaining why each character is important to the story.

4. Your own personal notes that will help you to remember the story. Take these notes as you read each chapter or section of the book. Do not wait until you have completed the book.

Your English teacher will ask to see your notes before you are tested on the books.

Have fun reading your two novels during the summer.
