Winner of the Waldinger Cup

In 2007, Children's Librarian Suzanne Dlugolonski encouraged children to participate in the library's Summer Reading Clubs by announcing the establishment of the Waldinger Cup. The first ever winner of the Waldinger Cup is the Wheeler Avenue School.

The Waldinger Cup is awarded to the school that had the most students finish the summer reading clubs each year. Fifty-six students from the Wheeler Avenue School achieved summer reading club certificates this year. Holy Name of Mary R.C. School came in second place (45 students), and the Clear Stream Avenue School came in third (35 students).

The presentation of the Waldinger Cup was made to the principal, school media specialist, and other representatives of the Wheeler Avenue School on Monday, September 24, 2007, at 3:45 p.m. Students and parents from Wheeler Avenue School also attended the ceremony.

The Waldinger Cup will be on display at the Wheeler Avenue School throughout the 2007/2008 school year to recognize its students' achievements.
