This grant will allow the library to present parenting programs for adolescents and parents at local secondary schools. In addition, the Parenting Collection in the Children's Room has been expanded to include more materials for adolescents and their parents. For further information, contact Project Director Mamie Eng at the library.
ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOGS - The next time you visit the library, you will see a number of computer terminals in the Adult Room and in the Children's Room. These are online public access catalogs, also known as opacs, for you to check what is available at the Valley Stream library and throughout the Nassau Library System. These opacs are up-to-date and will show you the current status of a book, i.e. In, Out, Hold, etc. Check the Calendar of Events for the next instructional class being offered on the use of the opacs. The old card catalogs in the Adult Room and the Children's Room were removed from the library on December 18, 1998.
