ART & MUSIC

The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library subscribes to several online resources that can help with general research or homework assignments. In some cases, you will be asked to enter your library card barcode number which is located on the reverse side of your library card. In other cases, you will be asked to enter a password, which may be obtained at the Adult Reference Desk upon presentation of your library card.

Art History Resources on the Web is a well-organized and well-maintained gateway for art history students.  It is organized under eight chronological topic areas, plus Prints & Photography, Non-European Art, Research Resources, and Museums & Galleries.
The Art World Online links to many other art resources on the Internet.
ArtMuseum.Net, created by Intel and various museums, is a venue for recent and current exhibits. A great way to view art on the Internet.
The Getty, launched by the J. Paul Getty Trust, is a new website that features "expanded content and streaming media," including over 200 video clips related to artists, conservation, special exhibitions, and works in the permanent Getty collection. "Explore Art" includes 3,300 images, 1,500 artist biographies, and 1,500 glossary definites. "Visitors Guide" includes an interactive calendar of events, tips on planning a visit, and basic information in both English and Spanish. "About Us" includes professional resources such as research databases, conservation lab and field reports, grant information, and research tools.
Grove Art Online is the most comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide from prehistory to the present day.

Virtual Library Museums Pages  is a comprehensive directory of on-line museums and museum-related resources.

All Music Guide introduces various forms of music, including blues, jazz, world, and rock. You can search by genre, mood, theme, country, or instrument. Information includes biographies of performers, discographies, music clips, etc.
Gale Virtual Reference Library: Datebase features a wide variety of eBook reference titles from Thomson Gale, including Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Popular Musicians Since 1990.

Grove Music Online includes the full text of this universally acknowledged reference work of unsurpassed authority on all aspects of music. This great work is widely used throughout the academic and professional community, and revered by music lovers worldwide.

The Internet Beatles Album is a site dedicated to the Beatles, with biographies and photographs of the Beatles, a history of the group, sound clips of interviews with band members, etc.
MHN Instrument Enyclopedia was designed for Grades 6 and up by the University of Michigan School of Information and School of Music. Instruments can be browsed in seven basic categories : percussion, string, winds, and electronic.
