The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library subscribes to several online resources that can help with general research or homework assignments. In some cases, you will be asked to enter your library card barcode number which is located on the reverse side of your library card. In other cases, you will be asked to enter a password, which may be obtained at the Adult Reference Desk upon presentation of your library card.

CQ Researcher Online is an online resource for balanced and in-depth analysis of contemporary issues.

Custom Newspapers is a Gale Group database that contains 150 full-text newspapers, including the latest 365 days of the New York Times, plus indexes and abstracts for the Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, and the Washington Post; plus Wall Street Journal abstracts. (Unfortunately, it does not include Newsday.) It is offered to patrons through NOVEL, the New York State Statewide Database Project.

FindArticles.com is a database of "hundreds of thousands of articles from more than 300 magazines and journals, dating back from 1988" that can be searched by all magazines, magazines within categories, or specific magazine.
Lexis-Nexis
National Newspaper Index is a Gale Group database that provides indexing of America's top five newspapers: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post, covering 1977 to the present. It is offered to patrons through NOVEL, the New York State Statewide Database Project.

New York State Newspapers is a Gale Group database that includes seven newspapers published in the State of New York, including New York Post (New York, NY) and New York Times (New York, NY). (Unfortunately, it does not include Newsday.) It is offered to patrons through NOVEL, the New York State Statewide Database Project.

OnlineNewspapers.com provides links to newspapers around the world.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center : Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center draws on the acclaimed social issues series published by Greenhaven Press, as well as core reference content from other Gale and Macmillan Reference USA sources to provide a complete one-stop source for information on social issues. Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to websites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles.

TOPICsearch is a current events database covering social, political, and economic issues, scientific discoveries, and other popular topics that contains full text for over 92,700 articles from more than 2,500 diverse sources, including more than 1,550 full text periodicals.

CNN News provides excellent coverage of world, U.S., and local news. Coverage includes weather, business, sports, technology, space, health, politics, entertainment, poltiics, etc.
Daily News provides access to top stories in the New York Daily News, updates, and an archive of articles from October 1997, excluding the last two days.
The New York Times on the Web provides access to New York Times articles, up-to-the minute breaking news, and in-depth multimedia presentations. There is a searchable archive going back to 1996 and from 1851-1995. Articles from the last 7 days are free; others are available for a fee.
Newsday.com is the website of the fifth-largest metropolitan newspaper in the country, especially serving Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens counties.
USA Today  includes today's and yesterday's print editions, plus an archives of back issues.  It is updated throughout the day to feature top news stories.
U.S. Newswire  is the leading national wire service for distribution of full text news to the media, government, research and public affairs communites.
Valley Stream Herald is the website for Herald Community Newspapers. Select Valley Stream for the Valley Stream edition.
WashingtonPost.com is one of the best online newspapers. The site is frequently updated, has many Interent extras, and has a searchable archive going back to 1977.
