| 2008 YA Video Games Night : The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library held its first Young Adult Video Games Night on Friday, February 1, 2008. Over 25 teens took turns playing Guitar Hero and Wii Bowling, while others played board games, hung out with friends, and made new friends. Lindsay Plotkin had the highest score for Guitar Hero, and Michael Yang was the high scorer for Wii Bowling. | ||||||||
| 2007 YA Magic Workshop: The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library held a magic workshop on Friday, November 2, 2007. Vincent, the magician, showed the teens how to perform special card tricks, rope tricks, and other illusions. This program was funded by a special New York State Legislative Grant awarded to the library through New York Senator Dean Skelos. | ||||||||

| 2007 YA Halloween Craft Night: The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library held a craft night for young adults on Friday, October 26, 2007. Teens built haunted house decorations and made ghost magnets, while having fun and meeting with friends. Seasonal craft nights are held every month for teens. | ||||||||

| Teen Summit Two : Teens from the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library participated in Teen Summit Two on Monday, August 13, 2007, at the Lynbrook Public Library. The Nassau Library System held this all-day workshop for teens throughout Nassau County. | ||||||||
| Teen Poetry Contest: The library holds a Teen Poetry Contest for students in Grades 6-12 to celebrate National Poetry Month. Winners of the 2006 Annual Teen Poetry Contest were honored on April 21, 2006. Winners of the 2007 Annual Teen Poetry Contest were honored on April 20, 2007. | ||||||||
| Teen Read Week: Each year, the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library joins thousands of other libraries, schools and bookstores across the country to encourage teens to celebrate reading. Teen Read Week TM is the national adolescent literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) of the American Library Association. | ||||||||
Teen Talent Show: The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library held its 1st Annual Teen Talent Show on Wednesday, August 23, 2006. Four teens entertained over 35 children and parents with their talents:

Young Adult Mother/Daughter Book Discussion Group : The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library sponsors a Young Adult Mother/Daughter Book Discussion Group that meets on a regular basis to give mothers and daughters an opportunity to read common books, to meet with other mothers and daughters, and to discuss these books. Some of the titles that have been discussed over the past years include: Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott; The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, by Ann Brashares; Split Image, by Mel Glenn; and The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things, by Carolyn Mackler. | Teen Read Week 2007 - LOL@the Library : Teen Read Week will be celebrated between October 14-20, 2007. Stop by the library to register for the Teen Read Week Raffle to win autographed copies of various YA novels. In addition, register for the library's first YA Winter Reading Club. Teen Tech Week : Over 50 teens completed the library's Teen Tech Week Survey during Teen Tech Week from March 4 through March 10, 2006 and entered our raffle. According to our Survey results, teens are very active users of technology! All the teens use computers, televisions, and DVD players. Almost all the teens are using iPods or MP3 players, game systems, and cellphones. Alexandria Cisco was the winner of the raffle prize - $10 gift card to Macy's.
