Preparations are underway for the Author Reception and for the Gala Opening Celebration. | April 23, 2007 | Progress Report #13: Installation of the standing seam roof began on April 9, 2007. Flat roof pitch pockets for all roofing penetrations have been installed. Installation of the curtain wall framing for the clearstory windows and clearstory window frames have begun. EFCO windows for the lower elevations are due for delivery on April 25th. Pressure tests for all plumbing installations (water, waste, vent & gas) have been performed and documented. Ductwork for the second floor is currently 85% complete. Electrical branch wiring for the first floor power, lighting and alarms is near completion. Installation of the south basement light fixtures began on April 19, 2007.(see the slideshow) |
| March 26, 2007 | Progress Report #12: Installation of the roofing insulation and underlayment and OSB insulation are underway. Standing seam roof installations are scheduled to begin by March 30. Installation of the interior soffit framing in the main library and second floor “clearstory” is currently 95% complete. Installation of the gas meter piping, distribution piping, Sewer ejection pumps and hot water heater are near completion. HVAC ductwork installations in the first and second floor chase walls and Electrical branch wiring for power and lighting are in process.(see the slideshow) |
| Feb. 26, 2007 | Progress Report #11: Installation of the roofing insulation and underlayment began on all the flat roofs. The standing seam roof was scheduled to begin by March 15, 2007. Installation of the soffit framing around the perimeter of the roof edge began. The installation of the hot & cold domestic water piping and control valves in the basement are underway. The RPZ backflow device was installed on the first floor. Electrical branch wiring for power & lighting in the basement began. Installation of the main feed riser from the basement to second floor was completed on February 22, 2007. The installation of the breaching for the boilers was installed. Automatic temperature control (ATC) wiring installations began. (see the slideshow) |
| Feb. 5, 2007 | Progress Report #10: Exterior masonry walls were completed with the installation of cast stone at the front canopy entrance. Installation of the interior framework on the basement and first floor continued throughout January. Hot water piping installation for the basement and first floor is currently 85% complete. The waste and vent piping for the first and second floor bathrooms has been “roughed-in” and is currently 75% complete. The concrete stair treads for Stair # 1 and # 2 were poured. Installation of wood blocking around the perimeter of the roof edge is currently 75% complete. Roofing installations are underway. Installation of the temporary window enclosures began on January 4th and portable heaters were delivered to the site on January 26, 2007. (see the slideshow) |
| Dec. 18, 2006 | Progress Report #9: Installation of the sprinkler piping in the basement completed. Installation of the exterior sheathing nearly complete. First floor hollow metal door installed and canopy roof for the main entrance framed. Installation of the underground storm drainage systems at the east and west elevations completed. All soil backfilled and compacted. Layout and mobilization for the exterior masonry walls began on December 4th . As of December 18, 2006, 60% of the split-face block has been installed and the first cast stones have been set. HVAC Installations for the basement and first floor ductwork is ongoing, as well as work on the modular boilers and basement bathrooms. (see the slideshow) |
| Nov. 27, 2006 | Progress Report #8: Steel deck studs were installed on the first floor deck. Underground drainage for the north and south elevations were completed; east elevation is underway. Installations of Steel Stairs were completed. Floor slabs were poured and cylinder samples taken for concrete testing. Exterior framing is 95% complete. Exterior sheathing is 50% complete. Installation of temporary lighting for the first floor was completed. Installation of the steel decking for the flat roof was completed. Consultants inspected decking installation upon completion and signed-off. (see the slideshow) |
| Oct. 23, 2006 | Progress Report #7: Phase II of the structural steel erection began with the installation the of the structural steel columns at the slab on grade / north elevation. All remaining structural steel columns & beams were erected and completed. A structural steel survey was performed to check that all structural steel was “plumb” and deck studs could be installed. Electrical conduits were installed in the steel decking at the first floor elevation to prepare for the concrete pour. (see the slideshow) |
| Sept. 25, 2006 | Progress Report #6: Completion for Phase 1 of the structural steel erection was completed by August 25, 2006. The concrete pour for the SOG was completed on September 18, 2006. Anchor bolt survey for SOG was performed on September 25, 2006, to prepare for phase II of the structural steel erection.(see the slideshow) |
| Aug. 21, 2006 | Progress Report #5: The excavation and the installation of the concrete footings & piers at the SOG was completed by August 8th, 2006. Final leveling & compaction of the SOG soil in preparation for the crane delivery was completed on August 9th, 2006. The underground storm drainage piping at the SOG was installed on August 10, 2006.
